Meet the Counselor

Veronica

Ms. Spiller

Greetings from the Counselor! I am the guidance counselor for Hicks Elementary and I love what I do. I was born in Tyler, Tx. and moved to Houston to attend Texas Southern University, where I received my bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. I taught Reading, Language Arts, and Social Studies, (Gifted and Talented) for 9 years in HISD and Alief ISD. In 2003, I received a Master's degree in Counseling from Prairie View A&M University. I've been married for almost 20 years to a wonderful husband. I have a son and daughter, who both attend Alief schools.  I’m very grateful to be connected to a diverse, well-rounded, and innovative school district. With more than 20 years of educational experience, as I work with staff and students at Hicks Elementary, I'm reminded daily of how blessed I am to be a guidance counselor in this wonderful school district.

Meet the Counselor

This page was created to provide staff, students, and parents a variety of resources, as well as make them aware of the services offered to all students. Guidance lessons include topics on self-esteem, positive actions, anger management, responsibility, decision making, feelings, friendship, grief, and getting along with others. Our counseling program includes individual and group sessions. Alief ISD's Guidance and Counseling Program is a comprehensive, developmental guidance program based on the state's model. Professional counselors are available on all Alief ISD's campuses to provide services for all of our students.
